After feeling sick for a couple of days, Rockabilly Roasting Co. founder Travis Jordan suddenly collapsed and died leaving the community of Kennewick, Washington “devasted” at the sudden loss.

Travis Jordan, the founder of Rockabilly Roasting Co. in Kennewick, a city in Benton County in the U.S. state of Washington, died on Wednesday, November 16 aged 41 after suddenly collapsing.

His longtime friend Kagen Cox told the Tri-City Herald that medical staff were unable to revive him.

Stephanie Button, the director of the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership, told the news outlet: “We’re all devastated.

“It’s a very quiet day today. Everyone is in shock.“

The father and husband changed from being a Lampson Crane company roadie to a coffee shop owner back in 2015 and had since been the centre of the local community.

Emily Estes Cross, the economic development director for the city of Kennewick, spoke of Travis’ impact on the community.

“Travis Jordan’s impact on downtown was significant,” she said.

“As admired as he was for his growing his business, providing a gathering place for community, investing in a beloved building, and roasting great coffee, he was an engaged parent and husband who valued family.”

She added: “Travis quietly led by example, steered clear of politics, and demonstrated kindness, solid judgment and integrity in making strategic business decisions.”

His wife Laura wrote on Facebook: “Today Rockabilly Roasting Co. lost its backbone.

“Travis tragically and suddenly passed away today.”

She added: “He was loved so very much by so many. He leaves me (his wife) and Penelope behind to navigate this big ole’ world.

“I don’t really know what to do or how to really feel right now. I don’t know what the future of RRC will be.

“For now, RRC will close until Monday morning so the crew can take a break and have time to grieve.

“As for me, I’ll be okay.

“Maybe not right now but I will be.

“I never thought I would lose my best friend like this.

“Rest In Peace and in God’s Glory, Travis A Jordan.”
